At PharmatText, we value your privacy. This privacy policy outlines our commitment to protecting your data in compliance with the Health Information Act (HIA), Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information Collection and Usage

PharmatText does not collect or store any personal health information. The script that we use to facilitate our services only reads phone numbers and upcoming refill dates. It's important to note that all patient information, such as phone numbers, medication names, and number of refills remaining, never leaves the pharmacy's system. We're designated as custodians (as per HIA Custodians designated 2(1)), and we use non-identifying health information strictly for the purpose of sending refill reminders.

As per HIA's Division 1 General Duties and Powers, we are committed to collecting, using, or disclosing health information with the highest degree of anonymity possible.

Information Storage and Disclosure

In line with the stipulations of HIA's Section 66, our agreement with pharmacies ensures that we don't store any personal information, and the health information provided to us is protected, managed, returned or destroyed in accordance with the Act. We don't share or disclose this information as we don't have access to it.

In the case of electronic information, we follow HIA's Assessment of risk of harm 8.1(1) and ensure that the information is encrypted or otherwise secured to prevent unauthorized access.

Compliance with CASL and PIPEDA

In compliance with the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation, we only send electronic messages to individuals who have provided either express or implied consent. We ensure that our messages meet all the requirements of CASL, including providing an unsubscribe mechanism.

We adhere to PIPEDA's stipulation of protecting personal information, regardless of how it is stored, against loss, theft, or any unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. We strive to adapt our protective measures as technologies evolve and new risks emerge.
